Is anyone else concerned about the increasingly pervasive notion of humans “collaborating” with AI? 

Relationship of mutuality

Collaboration - whatever its diverse motivations and means of expression - is a relationship of mutuality between living and breathing human beings. Properly perceived and applied, so-called “artificial intelligence” undoubtedly has a lot to offer us in support of the living of our lives. But it needs to be seen as a technological aid to our human being, doing and becoming; not as in any way equivalent to it.

Seth Godin on bloggin'

A recent tweet from David Gurteen pointed to this short YouTube clip of Seth Godin talking with Tom Peters about the importance of blogs and blogging.

 

It's comforting to know that Godin thinks blogging is a worthwhile enterprise - even if nobody reads it!  And even then, of course, blogging is a social act. It presumes an audience.

"Social software" and informal coalitions

In Lloyd Davis's Perfect Path blog, he argues (in It's Social Stupid, 7 December 2006) that blogs, wikis and on-line social networking tools provide an exciting new generation of "social software." He suggests that these tools offer support for the informal conversations and interactions that can add greatly to the vitaity and effectiveness of organizations. And he maintains that the question should no longer be about whether these tools should be adopted, but rather how best they might be used to get things done.
